North Mountain Vacation Rentals is located in the middle of the Monongahela National Forest 7 1/2 miles in on a paved road off of Route 28 near Cabins, WV. This area is extremely secluded with abundant wildlife just 4 miles from the Historic Smokehole Recreation Area.

When you drive into the canyon, you will notice the angle of the jagged rock formations twisted almost into horseshoe shapes from the evolution process from millions of years ago. Bald eagles soar through the air effortlessly as they hunt for game and fish in the river below. Deer are everywhere for your enjoyment. If you are lucky, you may spot an otter or a bear. They too are a part of this beautiful terrain. Located near by is the Seneca Rocks Recreation area with its trail to the top of Seneca Rocks, or if you like, ride to the top on horseback. Take some time and learn to mountain climb at the climbing school near Harper’s old country store. Also stop by and visit the Caverns at Seneca and Smokehole.

Behind our cabins you have access to the North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac River, an area that offers some of the best fishing and canoeing found anywhere. The nearby woodlands are abundant with small game, deer and bear.

Appalachian Cabins combine the rustic charm of yesteryear with the comfort of modern day conveniences. The cabins were constructed in the same manner as the early settlers of this area used to build their homes more than a century ago. All the timber, which came from Spruce Mountain, was milled in nearby Hardy County, and then hand hewn and assembled on-site.

The carved porch posts and gingerbread trim were rescued from a century-old Hardy County mansion that was falling into ruin. Many of the floors in the cabins came from an old log house in Hardy County. The artistry of the native stone chimneys is impressive. All the materials in our cabins utilize local natural hardwoods.

Each cabin has a wood burning fireplace. Firewood is available on-site free of charge. However, if you plan to use your fireplace you might consider bringing a starter log.

Seneca Rocks is just three miles away, providing challenging climbs for beginner to expert. For the history buff the Treasure Mountain Festival that takes place in Franklin the third weekend of September has everything from Civil War battle reenactments to tours of local historic buildings, quilt displays, local artisans’ crafts and traditional country food. Canaan Valley, Blackwater Falls and Dolly Sods are within an hour’s scenic drive from the Cabins.

There is no cell phone service in our area and there are no phones in the cabins. Limited cell phone service is available five miles south-east of us, for AT&T subscribers only. Free WiFi is provided.

Hidden in the hills of West Virginia, along the winding Elk River Cowger’s Campground is the perfect place to relax. Let us be your home away from home! We offer full service hook-ups, dump station and complimentary Wi-Fi. The Cabin is located on Top of a Mountain and has a Gravel Driveway to the Top.  We do get a good amount of Snow Sometimes which is what makes it so Beautiful. In Summer Months any vehicle is fine.

Welcome to our Cranesville rental nestled in the pines and premiere farm land. We are just 20 minutes from Deep Creek Lake where there are restaurants and summer and winter activities. Our country home borders Cranesville Swamp Nature Conservancy and has two beautiful ponds for catch and release fishing. There are cattle, sheep, horses, mules, ducks and chickens for you to enjoy. You may also see deer, turkey, birds and an occasional bear.

Welcome to Gump’s Black Bear Cabin Rental. We are Tim and Melissa Gump owners of Gump’s Black Bear Cabin Rental and co-owners of Grafton hometown pizza. We are life time residents of the Grafton area. Tim is the meat manager of his family’s Shop n Save Express store. Melissa is a 17 year employee of the Grafton post office as a City letter carrier. They are proud parents of two adult sons. We built this cabin ourselves in hopes to add another place for families to stay at while enjoying the Tygart Lake State Park and Grafton area. We hope you give our cabin a try and enjoy your stay.

The cabin is located in a secure, secluded location 5 miles from Tygart Lake and boasts a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and coffee pot; and a full bathroom and washer and dryer.

The cabin sleeps ten comfortably and features two full beds in the loft bedroom, a queen size bed in the ground level bedroom and one full size bed in the second ground level bedroom. The love seat sleeper sofa rolls out into a full size bed.

There is a vented gas log fire place for those chilly autumn evenings; and an window unit air conditioner and ceiling fans to keep you comfortable during the summer months.

There is a DVD player and smart TV available, but we recommend an evening on the covered front porch enjoying the view or reading a book and relaxing in a rocking chair; or using the table and chairs for a late evening meal while enjoying a beautiful sunset or playing a game of cards.

There is also an outside fire pit, charcoal grill and picnic table – perfect for an evening of ghost stories, smores and roasting marshmellows.

The area supports many types of recreation such as rock climbing, caving, hiking, hunting and fishing, skiing, sightseeing, nature study, star gazing, photography, bird watching and enjoying sunsets and cool mountain breezes with a cup of coffee from your deck.

Our cabin is off the beaten path in the quiet village of Durbin which is surrounded by the Monongahela National Forest. Wtih four scenic train rides close by and only 400 yards from the Allegheny Trail, you”ve come to the right place for outdoor wonder. Enjoy fishing, hunting, hiking and cross-country skiing just a short jaunt away. Rates are available by day, week or weekend. Hunters and fishermen are welcome.

Fall Away Fern Cabin provides access to resort amenities!
