Barking Fox Farm and Guesthouse
Ladybug Cottage, our dog-friendly B&B, was named after our twenty seven year old Quarter Horse that I still ride, has French doors that lead to a spacious covered deck that overlooks one of the horse pastures. The large crown moldings and Dutch baroque chandelier provide an old world charm. It is furnished throughout with antique furniture including part of our antique picture frame collection. There is also satellite television. The floors are tile and covered with oriental area rugs. Fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and mahogany cabinets. The bedroom is furnished with my grandmother’s bedroom furniture and a Simmons queen size Beauty rest mattress for a restful night’s sleep. The doggie traveler isn’t forgotten either, there is a cushy doggie bed too! At the end of the day take a soothing bath in the whirlpool tub and enjoy the sunset from the romantic deck with a view of horses peacefully grazing. You can also see the main house across the pasture. The atmosphere is so serene you feel as though you have left civilization behind, but are only minutes from downtown Landrum and Tryon. This area is in the middle of North and South Carolina’s horse country. We have many different different kinds of horses on the farm. A Percheron French Draft Horse, Paint Horses, Quarter Horses and our 30+ year old Racking Horse.
The first step across the threshold always takes guests by surprise. Laurel Cottage, is our pet-friendly B&B, was named after our youngest son’s first horse, has marvelous large crown moldings and a Dutch baroque chandelier to create an elegant atmosphere. The kitchen has mahogany cabinets and is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and a charming pasture view. The whirlpool tub in the spacious bathroom adds an additional touch of luxury. On your first step outside the door of Laurel Cottage you are greeted with sweeping views of the pastures and the main house. The atmosphere is so serene you feel as though you have left the pressures of the modern world behind you, but you are only minutes from downtown Landrum and Tryon.
The bedroom furniture is part of my grandmother’s bedroom set. There is a queen size Simmons Beauty rest mattress for a restful night’s sleep as well as a very cushy doggie bed. The living room has a satellite television as well as a Simmons Hide-a-Bed for that extra guest. Why stay at a dog-friendly hotel when you can stay at Laurel Cottage?
Located within walking distance of Wildwater Chattooga, this timber frame house has 3 bedrooms with Queen beds and a loft with 2 single beds, sleeps up to 8. Jawbone, (named after “Jawbone” rapid in the famous Five Falls of the Chattooga River Section 4) is perfect for 3 couples or multiple families with kids. Jawbone has a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite counters, 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer, gas fireplace, 3 flat screen TVs with DirecTV, covered outdoor deck, covered front porch and patio with outdoor propane grill. All linens included. Add nearby Corkscrew house if your group has more than 8 Guests. Combined, Corkscrew and Jawbone can accommodate up to 20 Guests.
Jawbone was built with the environment in mind. Superior insulation for a quiet stay, efficient heating and cooling, on demand water heater, fluorescent bulbs used throughout, and the use of environmentally-safe cleaning products are some of the steps we have taken. We also integrated trees leveled from the building site into the construction of the house.

Where did we get our name? Shortly after the 1800′s there was a drover’s Inn, on this location. With accommodations for travelers and drovers who were using the turnpike. A major route for moving cattle, hogs, turkeys and other commodities from Tennessee and Kentucky to markets in the south, such as Charleston. This location became know as Pleasant Bank Inn, also a loading point for Ottingers Ferry, crossing the river. The old turnpike road is still located were it was 200 years ago along the beautiful river. In this setting you can enjoy the quietness of the countryside and the French Broad River, which is used today for white water rafting in NC. You can often see wildlife such as deer, geese and turkeys, that will some times come into your front yard. We have two great lodging options and can comfortably sleep a total of 8 people. Blue Ridge Mountain Cabins manage a wide array of individually owned one, two, three and four bedroom vacation rental cabins, some with hot tubs and some pet friendly. Just 90 miles north of Atlanta, GA.
The Blue Ridge Mountains offer many activities. Mountain biking, hiking, fishing, boating, bird watching, antiquing and much more. When you rent one of our cabins you will be in the best place to enjoy all the area has to offer.
Each of our Blue Ridge Mountain rental cabins have a fully equipped kitchen, microwave oven, coffee maker and toaster. Some kitchens also have a dishwasher and washer and dryer. Bed linens, bath towels, paper products and soaps are provided. All vacation cabins have heat, ceiling fans and all are air conditioned. Additional amenities include telephone, TV/VCR, most have DVD, porches and grills. There are Jacuzzis and Hot Tubs in some cabins.
All vacation rental cabins have fireplaces. Some cabins have gas logs but most have wood burning fireplaces for that cozy get together during the fall or winter months. Firewood is provided between October 1 and April 1.

You wouldn’t be in the Blue Ridge Mountains without all of our annual festivals. Ellijay is known for its fall apple festival which takes place on the 2nd and 3rd weekend of October. Blue Ridge patriotic 4th of July festivals over beautiful Lake Blue Ridge and we cant forget Jasper and its Marble festival each year. All cabins include flat screen with DISH Network TV, full size stove, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, sliverware, glasses, dishes, pots/pans, basic utensils, outdoor girll utensils (all cabins have outdoor charcoal grill), all linens are provided (bed sheets, towels, wash cloths), bars of soap are provided (but no shampoo and conditioner). We provide paper towels, toilet paper, coffee filters (but no coffee and creamer), dish detergent, dish cloth and drying towel, trash bags, and plastic wrap. Call the front office if you need anything above.

Let the kids bring their bicycles to Bear Den…we also have basketball, volleyball, table tennis, shuffleboard, horse shoe courts, playgrounds and a game room with pool tables, air hockey and arcade games. Never a dull day at Bear Den Campground and everything for your enjoyment right here. We have cable TV in our fully-furnished cabins and free WiFi hotspots at 3 locations throughout the resort.
Bear Den’s Trading Post has ice, drinks, firewood, souvenirs as well as some food items for your camping needs. We also carry a variety of gear for Camping, Hiking and Backpacking.
