The Sweet Briar Cabin is nestled on an 89-acre farm. The cabin has one cozy bedroom complete with a queen bed. There is a sitting area under a covered deck right through the bedroom’s sliding doors. At the other end of the cabin, another sliding door leads you to the outdoor eating area and hot tub.

The kitchen is fully equipped to make your meal preparation easy, or you can opt to visit any of our local restaurants.

Where did we get our name? Shortly after the 1800′s there was a drover’s Inn, on this location. With accommodations for travelers and drovers who were using the turnpike. A major route for moving cattle, hogs, turkeys and other commodities from Tennessee and Kentucky to markets in the south, such as Charleston. This location became know as Pleasant Bank Inn, also a loading point for Ottingers Ferry, crossing the river. The old turnpike road is still located were it was 200 years ago along the beautiful river. In this setting you can enjoy the quietness of the countryside and the French Broad River, which is used today for white water rafting in NC. You can often see wildlife such as deer, geese and turkeys, that will some times come into your front yard. We have two great lodging options and can comfortably sleep a total of 8 people. One cabin sleeps six and the other cabin is perfect for two.Today you can enjoy the farm and young orchard along with organic vegetables, and flowers being grown on the family farm. We are a small, family-run Bed & Breakfast-style Rustic Mountain Retreat, designed in the spirit of the Great Lodges of older times and ancient places, nestled deep in the mountains of Southern Appalachia along the North Carolina/ Tennessee border. The name Kana’ti is in honor of the first chief of the first people: The Cherokee and earlier Woodland tribes who, according to archaeological evidence, used this area for thousands of years as a hunting ground for Mammoth, Bison, Elk and Deer migrating up and down the Bald Mountain Ranges as the ice caps retreated northward. The lodge itself is constructed of mostly local materials, many of which were reclaimed from old cabins and barns around the Southern Appalachian region. Every part of the building tells a story – the passing age of tobacco in barn poles and hand-rived stakes, restored windows and doors from a local school, and flooring and siding harvested from our own land.

Unlike most cabins in the area, this cabin is right in Alpine Helen. Located on the Chattahoochee River, it’s just a short walk into downtown Alpine Helen and the Oktoberfest ‘Festhall’. Park your car and walk to town. Finished in the late summer of 2009, this is one of the newest luxury cabins in Helen. For about the same price as a motel suite, you get 2 big bedrooms, living/dining rooms, full kitchen, washer & dryer and two jetted bathtubs. Best of all, you get the privacy and quiet a motel room could never offer. Each bedroom has one queen sized bed and there is a sleeper sofa in the living room, accommodating a total of 6 people. The fully equipped kitchen has solid surface countertops & ceramic tile floors, microwave, and dishwasher. Make Helen Riverside Cabin your luxury ‘base camp’ for exploring all of Northeast Georgia.
What’s in the cabin.: All cooking utensils and linens are provided. All furniture and appliances are brand new. There are jetted bath tubs in each bath with a two person jetted tub in the downstairs bath. The floors in the baths are also ceramic tile. Towels and linens are provided. There is 32′ flat screen TV w DVD player in the living room and a 22′ flat screen TV w DVD player upstairs. Free WiFi service is available.The owners live in Helen, so if there are any problems, we’ll be there to make it right.

We have eight units on 2.5 acres and two Luxury cabins at the foot hills of the Blue Ridge mountains and only five minutes from beautiful down town Alpine Helen. All our cabins have kitchens or kitchenettes, AC, Direct TV, DVD, Linens, Gas Log Fireplaces (in season) and Charcoal Grills. We hope that you will visit us as a guest and leave as a friend. The luxury cabins sit on one acre lots by the Wild Life Management area.
